CRHS Students make Island Rounders Squad

Kiera Cooper, Megan Roberts and Anna Munro were all selected to travel to Preston at the weekend to take part in an away International Rounders Fixture against the England U14 squad.

After travelling to the impressive grounds of the University of Central Lancashire's Sports Arena, the girls were first on in a warm up game against Durham High School.  This helped to calm the nerves and get their game heads on.  Kiera took 5 fantastic catches to reduce their
time by half and ultimately, the girls came away with a victory score of 10-7.5.

With an air of confidence surrounding them, the girls went into their second game against England feeling good.  It was a new experience for them playing in an all-out innings but going into bat first, they quickly racked up a score of 6.5.  The aim was to keep the England score as low as possible but some questionable decision making in the latter stages of the innings allowed England to score a half time total of 14 - quite a challenge to bring this one back.

In the second innings England were switched on, quickly catching out 4 of the team.  The remaining players battled on to build an overall score of 10.5 but it wasn't enough to ask England to bat again. At this point, England had won the game.

It was a fantastic experience for all students involved and special congratulations must go to Kiera Cooper who was also voted Most Valuable Player by the England Board.

Well done!
